The 1950 Deluxe is a model year that spans two decades of car design.
Chevrolet introduced the Deluxe model in 1949 as their first new post war model.
The 49 & 50 body styles are nearly identical.
This model still captures the beautiful curves and styling of the 40s, but has the beginnings of style that become more prevalent in the early to mid-50s.
The 51 and 52 rear fenders became more squared off and in a few more years they started to grow the iconic 50's fins.
You can own a piece of automotive history and design with this 50 Deluxe! This Chevrolet is an absolute joy to drive, bringing a smile to your face and to everyone you pass by.
It drives a straight line down the road and the ride is incredibly smooth, you'd never know it is 73 years old.
I purchased the car in August 2014 from a collector who purchased the car from a friend in 2011.
The prior owner's friend did much of the initial restoration on the exterior.
Records show the car was repainted in the current color seen today, which still has an amazing shine as seen in the pictures.
(Estimated paint years 2007-2010) Prior work performed included new fuel tank, exhaust and muffler system, carb rebuild and other minor mechanical work.
The Deluxe has the original 6 Cylinder, Blue Flame engine, 216ci which produces 90HP.
Has the original 3 Speed - 3 on the tree, transmission which shifts smooth as silk.
The car starts right up, no smoke and idles so quietly you may not notice its running.
This car has been extremely well maintained over its 73 years.
During the exterior restoration, the only changes to the interior were the application of the seat covers, which were installed very well in a light greyish-blue color.
They are still on today as seen in the pictures.
Black carpeting was installed on the floor.
The balance of the interior was still all original when I purchased the Deluxe, however it was showing signs of age.
In 2015 - 2016, I had the full interior re-done by a tenured and experienced restoration shop in Cincinnati.
Original color scheme based on Chevrolet specs was chosen to maintain the classic look this Deluxe deserves.
All front door panels were rebuilt and redone with period correct mohair fabric in light grey and charcoal grey, with the charcoal grey vinyl on the bottom.
Rear seat quarter boards were redone with same material.
New front door handles in grey were installed.
Original rear seat handles redone in grey vinyl to match.
Both ash trays are intact and slide in and out.
Brand new headliner was installed along with new wind lace along the door frames.
Visors were redone in matching material as was the rear deck between the back seat and rear window.
Over $4,000 was spent on this interior restoration for materials and labor.
The hand pulls on both sides were left in their original condition as a homage to the history of the car but are in good condition.
Everything works! Interior gauges are original with no modifications, just like it came off the factory floor in 1950.
Original AM radio (takes about 30 seconds to warm up), wipers, horn, blower motor and all blower selectors all work.
Front bench seat slides forward and back.
Heater works very well during cooler outside temps.
Headlights, tail lights, turn signals, interior dome and glove box lights all work.
Fuel gauge, Temp, Speedometer and Amp Meter all function correctly.
The car still has the original 6V electrical system and is operating with no issues at all.
Engine bay is very clean and in overall very good condition.
All window glass is original and in excellent condition.
Front and rear windows roll up and down smoothly.
There are two pock marks on the front windshield, but no cracking.
Traffic light viewer on the dash helps to view stop lights without leaning forward.
The Firestone wide white wall bias tires were purchased from Coker Tire and installed in 2014.
The Wide Whites give this Deluxe that classic look of a true 1950 Chevrolet.
Chrome trim all around is in excellent condition as seen in the photos, with minor corrosion mostly on the hub caps.
The Deluxe model came with a lot of chrome and gives it that flair of style and class.
Wheels have chrome trim rings installed for that extra pop of shine and style.
Ring guards on both door handles were installed during the interior restoration as was the fuel tank guard.
Headlights have the shiny trim visors with red cats eye.
Rear fender skirts are in excellent condition and can be removed to change the look if desired.
The original spare tire is still in the trunk! Rear seats do have seat belts installed.
Front seats have not had belts installed, however mounting holes are present for easy installation.
Undercarriage is in very good condition.
Never driven in the rain or snow.
Body lines are overall straight.
There are a few very small nicks here or there and one of the rear fender gravel guards has a few scratches.
Overall, the car shows very well all around.
