PATIENT CARE ASSISTANT:
Provides assistance and/or performs basic activities of daily living and specified treatments and procedures under the direct supervision of the nurse.
May perform non-direct patient care activities as assigned, requested, or directed.
The PCA II is responsible for orientation of new PCAs, coordination of PCA annual competency-based education (CBEs), assisting in PCA recruitment, retention, and scheduling activities, coordinating recurring PCA tasks (e.
g.
stocking, equipment checks, unit-based equipment disinfecting, et.
c), and PCA team meetings, providing peer feedback, monitoring PCA documentation, and actively engaging in department shared decision-making process improvement activities.
Conducts Audits (such as hourly rounding), conducts peer interviewing, Orients new PCA/ UC and PCA's.
Membership on at least one unit committee, attends required unit based mtgs, education requirements up to date MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
High School Degree or GED Successful completion of state administered nursing assistants' competency test Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience:
1-2 years Clinical Patient Care AssistantSPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
Reading and math ability appropriate to the position.
