PERINATAL EDUCATOR- PRN Shift Varies

PERINATAL EDUCATOR:
This position is focused on educating patients and their families about the many aspects of the childbearing years, including but not limited to infant & self-care for mothers during the immediate post partum period, infant & child safety, transitioning from parents to grandparents, becoming fathers, and preparation for labor and delivery.
Education is offered to outpatients.
Utilizing the principles of adult learning, the concepts are adapted to meet the individual learners needs and are outcome-based to empower the patient and family.
National standards for childbirth education and project management principles provide the framework for perinatal education services, structure, process, and outcomes.
This position must be available in the evening and weekend hours to accommodate the needs of the community.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) Registered Nurse

Experience:
3-4 years Clinical in Nursing practice in an acute or related specialty field 2-3 years orienting/precepting newly hired nurses, guest lecturing, and providing unit in-services

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
Advanced level knowledge of obstetrics; Knowledge of Adult Learning Principles.
