Summary:
Under general supervision, this position decontaminates, cleans, prepares, retrieves, and sterilizes surgical items and equipment. This position also stores and issues supplies in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. This position must have complete knowledge to use specific mechanical equipment, such as, sonic cleaners, washer sterilizers, EtO, Sterrad, Steris, and other specialized equipment; must also have extensive knowledge of regulatory agency requirements and adhere to guidelines. This position also mentors/orients new staff and acts as a resource to Sterile Supply Technician I.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education:
High School Degree or GED - Department Specifics:
Must have basic knowledge and ability to use computers and basic knowledge of medical terms. Must be able to lift and pull over 25 pounds and multitask.
Experience:
3-4 years as Sterile Supply Technician- Specialized Knowledge:
Able to read, write, speak English and perform simple math operations. Ability to provide leadership and to oversee the work of technicians; operate hazardous equipment. Knowledge of microbiology, infection control, computerized record keeping. Able to multitask a plus. - Licensure/Certification:
Certified Registered Central Service Technician preferred but not required.
