Job Overview

Serve as the Asst Dir Trainer Development working directly with Ohio's University Consortium for Child and Adult Services (OUCCAS) leadership and other stakeholders of the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program (OCWTP) and the Ohio Human Services Training System (OHSTS).


Essential Functions
  • In conjunction with trainer development team, develop and implement procedures to identify and assess qualified trainers.
  • In conjunction with trainer development team, develop and implement procedures to provide ongoing training and technical assistance to OCWTP and OHSTS trainers and coaches to ensure best practice training in a variety of delivery methods.
  • Oversee the acquisition, development, and revisions of modules used in training new trainers and coaches.
  • Oversee review of professional literature to determine the empirical base in the competency areas for new and experienced trainers.
  • Ensure performance data, skills gap analyses and individual training needs assessments are used to identify training needs of new trainers and coaches.
  • Oversee evaluations of trainer and coach effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with continuous quality improvement team to assess effectiveness of OCWTP and OHSTS trainer development efforts and otherwise participate in continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Lead various programmatic teams in partnership with Regional Training Centers, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services staff, and OCWTP and OHSTS Steering Committees.
  • Work with various elements of the learning management systems used by OCWTP and OHSTS.
  • Document work of the Trainer Development Team for status reports.
  • Oversee maintenance of trainer files.
  • Maintain currency in field of practice as well as learning science.Anchor
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education

Master's Degree in Social Work, Staff Development, Adult Learning, or related field.


Required Experience
  • Three (3) years of professional experience integrating adult learning theories and instructional design strategies.
  • Knowledge of and experience blending traditional training strategies with up-to-date technologies.
  • Work experience in child welfare or adult protective services.
  • Ability to fully integrate learning science and best-practice training methods (including workshops, simulations, online learning, and coaching) into training curricula.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to demonstrate skills taught to new trainers and coaches.
  • Experience with office productivity software and learning management systems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong project management skills.

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Experience with E-Track and OHSTS LMS.
