Job Overview

Serve as the Asst Dir Training & Recruitment working directly with Ohio's University Consortium for Child and Adult Services (OUCCAS) leadership and other stakeholders of the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program (OCWTP) and the Ohio Human Services Training System (OHSTS).


Essential Functions
  • Acquire, develop, and update modules used in training for APS caseworkers and supervisors. Help coordinate pilot testing of newly developed modules.
  • Determine competency areas needed for newly recruited trainers and coaches.
  • Use performance data, skills gap analyses and individual training needs assessments to identify training needs of APS caseworkers and supervisors.
  • Develop recruitment resources and tools designed to recruit trainers and coaches with needed skill sets as determined by OCWTP and OHSTS. Help screen and interview new trainers and coaches.
  • Establish networks with child welfare, adult protective services and allied fields for recruitment purposes.
  • Source and reach out to qualified trainers and coaches for prioritized trainings and learning events.
  • Work with various elements of the learning management system used by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) and OHSTS.
  • Document work for status reports.
  • Maintain currency in field of practice as well as learning science.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field.

Required Experience
  • Five (5) years of professional experience working with Adult or Child Protective Services.
  • Professional experience with agencies/resources serving children, families, or older adults.
  • Ability to fully integrate learning science and best-practice training methods (including workshops, simulations, online learning, and coaching) into training curricula.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to demonstrate skills taught to new trainers and coaches.
  • Experience with office productivity software and learning management systems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong project management skills.

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Master's Degree in Social Work and three (3) years of professional experience working with Adult or Child Protective Services.
  • Recent professional experience with agencies/resources serving children, families, or older adults.
  • Experience with E-Track and OHSTS LMS.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
