The incumbent of this position serves as the Park Manager, William Howard Taft National Historic Site (WIHO) of the National Park Service (NPS), Department of the Interior (DOI). WIHO is the nation's principal historic site associated with the life and legacy of William Howard Taft, attracting national and international visitors, scholars, and researchers. The site includes the restored home in a setting of 3.07 acres with just over half being Federally owned and attracts approximately eight to ten thousand visitors annually. The operations program and frequent historic preservation activities place significant burdens on the park's daily operations. This is a managerial position. The Park Manager sets all local policy for the park (based on DOI, NPS, and regional guidance) and interprets regional and national policy in decision making and goal setting. The position approves park and divisional goals and work plans, allocates the park budgets as necessary, and sets priorities for all phases of park management, leading all planning for the park. Responsible for all aspects of the management of WIHO in accordance with policies and guidelines of the DOI and the NPS. The incumbent has complete and overall responsibility for the management of the resources of WIHO and for its operation for the enjoyment and benefit of the public. Delegated authority by the Regional Director, the Park Manager manages the area in accordance with all laws, regulations, and policies applicable to managing a unit of the NPS. The Park Manager is responsible for a complex variety of functions including planning, natural and cultural resource management, visitor and resources protection, maintenance, visitor services, historic preservation, research, law enforcement, physical security, safety, developing partnerships, and coordination with other Federal, state, local, and private agencies and individuals. The responsibility encompasses administrative functions including fiscal budgeting and management, personnel, procurement, and property management. Area Information:
William Howard Taft National Historic Site is located in uptown Cincinnati, Ohio. Cincinnati is the county seat of Hamilton County Ohio. The city is located on the north bank of the Ohio River a the Ohio-Kentucky border, near Indiana. The population within city limits was 296,943 making it Ohio's third-largest city. According to the 2011 Census Bureau estimate, the Cincinnati metropolitan area had a population of 2,138,038. Amenities are typical of a Midwestern city and include a wide variety of educational and cultural opportunities, as well as professional, commercial and health services. Cincinnati is home to two major sports teams, the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals. The climate is cold in winter and hot and humid in summer. Government housing is not available but a variety of housing options are available for rent or purchase in the local area. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either full-time (or 40 hours a week) or part-time with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
experience which demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of park management principles, practices, techniques, laws, and regulations. Experience includes a variety of duties such as managing and supervising park or similar activities with an emphasis on natural management and protection, cultural and resource preservation and protection, visitor use and interpretation, law enforcement, maintenance of physical facilities and administrative programs. To be qualifying such experience must by equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal service. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
