You will:
Conduct independent research in environmental, clinical and/or molecular virology in response to EPA's priorities in assessing human and animal health risks; Lead a team of researchers; Serve as a technical authority on virological, molecular, and immunological methodologies to assess human infectious viruses; Manage extramural research projects related to in-house research support contract(s). When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses. You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements. In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the Research GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as participating in team research (i.e. formulating hypotheses, developing research plans, adapting existing methods/techniques) on environmental, clinical and/or molecular virology; and analyzing or communicating research results.- OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in the academic discipline as described below- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as conducting independent research using clinical and/or molecular-based methodologies to address health risks associated with human infectious viruses; managing technical progress of contracted research in environmental, clinical and/or molecular virology; and communicating research results in peer-reviewed publications. Your application package will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
1) Knowledge of virological/immunological/molecular methodologies to assess human infectious viruses in human and non-human hosts and in the environment; 2) Skill in interpreting scientific data; 3) Skill in written communication; 4) Ability to lead and train a team of researchers; 5) Skill in oral communication; 6) Ability to develop plans and program initiatives to support establishment of new scientific standards; 7) Ability to manage contracts including preparing procurement requests and monitoring technical performance. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
