Senior Social Worker - BTC Program Coordinator

Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
The BTC Program Coordinator is administratively responsible for the BTC program and provides treatment to patients with opioid use disorder and other comorbid conditions. The incumbent manages the daily operations of the program, develops policies and procedures, and prepares reports and statics for the facility, VISN, and national use. The incumbent may supervise unlicensed graduate social worker (SW) and may administratively manage any employees assigned to the program. A. BTC Administrative Duties Admission and screening to the BTC and assisting veterans to access needed services. Managing program census of 263 veterans, the largest suboxone program in the VISN. Updating and maintaining BTC policies and procedures as needed. Revising and maintaining the BTC handbook. Establishes program development projects that involves developing ongoing procedures to ensure quicker access such as offering medication assisted treatment (MAT) at detox. The BTC coordinator needs to be aware of the MISSION act and how to utilize it effectively to assist veterans to access community suboxone programs. Work collaboratively with patient business office staff regarding the MISSION Act and process for identifying suboxone programs in the community to link pts with needed services. Tracks and records patient assignments ensures new cases are evenly distributed to counselors and doctors. 8. Ensure that prescribers are adhering to the waiver guidelines and are within the limits of their capacity to prescribe B. Consults Coordinates consults and manage consult team. Provides training to new staff for consults. Completes consults assigned based on distribution plan. Resolves all consults in a timely manner and appropriate clinical reminders are completed covers consults for other consult team members and provides direction regarding consult completion. Problem solves with consult team regarding complicated consults or processes that impact consult procedures. Clinical Responsibilities Provides treatment to veterans with complex needs including multiple mental health diagnoses, and numerous psychosocial issues, using independent judgment. Ability to treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. Is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system, as appropriate. Provide clinical consultation to less experienced staff which may include coordinating crisis situations. Provide clinical supervision to SW staff and/or SW trainees and may serve as the subject matter expert for the discipline. Develop behavioral health related training curriculum and often conduct trainings for clinical staff. SWs model ethical and professional behaviors and standards to include multicultural awareness. No person will be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C., chapter 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity in VHA who is not proficient in written and spoken English. Education Requirement - Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to the CSWE website to verify if that social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a master of social work. Licensure:
Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Current state requirements may be found on the OHRM website.

GS-12 Experience, Education:
The candidate must have at least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Individuals assigned as Senior Social Worker -Buprenorphine Treatment Clinic (BTC) Program Coordinator have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. Senior social workers are experts in their specialized area of practice. Senior social workers may have certification or other post-masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty. Licensure/Certification. Senior social workers must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level which included an advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advanced practice level (except for licenses issued in California, which administers its own clinical examination for advanced practice) and they must be able to provide supervision for licensure Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
(a) Skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with special patient populations. This includes individual, group, and/or family counseling or psychotherapy and advanced level psychosocial and/or case management. (b) Ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice. (c) Knowledge in developing and implementing methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice and services in the specialty area, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services and to design system changes. (d) Ability to provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients in the service delivery area, as well as role modeling effective social work practice skills. (e) Ability to expand clinical knowledge in the social work profession, and to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines pertaining to the service delivery area. Reference:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
