Financial Analyst

Overview
The Financial Analyst will play a key role in the Finance Group providing the financial and related operational support for the Social Science, Business and Humanities Teams. Responsibilities include reporting and analysis for revenue, cost of goods sold, capital expenditures, operating expenses; review product investment proposals; update and maintain key financial metrics; and provide Ad Hoc analysis and reports.
The incumbent should have proven interpersonal skills with a track record of establishing collaborative business relationships with cross functional teams within an organization; the ability to manage and use large volume of data within analyzes along with using existing resources to problem solve; and have effective communication skills to work with all levels of management and staff.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Performs monthly financial reporting tasks, quarterly forecasting and annual planning activities
Supports the product team by compiling financial information to provide guidance and oversight on profitability of products, historical trends and adoption analysis
Performs reporting and monitoring of actual and budget data in a timely and accurate manner
Reviews product investment proposals to provide financial and operational support to product team in preparation of approval
Maintains oversight for operational set up of approved proposals in project planning system (IPS - Integrated Project System)
Prepares materials for product planning meetings
Participates in ad-hoc reporting, initiatives and analysis as assigned
Assists in maintaining data integrity within multiple systems.
Investigates discrepancies and provides recommendations
Assists in special projects
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Knowledge/Skills/
Experience:
Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Accounting/Finance

years related experience in financial reporting, planning, forecasting, analysis, and month-end close Adapts well to fast-pace environment and rapidly changing priorities and activities
Advanced experience with Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Proficient with financial reporting and planning software and general ledger systems (JD Edwards, Hyperion Essbase -Smartview, Oracle Data Warehouse)
Exhibits initiative and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Excellent detail-orientation with ability to multitask and respond to competing priorities
Ability to contribute constructively in team-oriented environment with rapidly changing priorities and time pressures
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral with ability to communicate complex business information to a range of audiences
Ability to train/mentor others
Ability to travel occasionally
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/
Experience:
Industry experience in publishing, software, or related content business
