the System Software Support Engineer will be responsible for the configuration, installation, maintenance and support of Makino's PC based MMC cell controller software and integrated systems software.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
Configure, install and support Makino developed cell controller software and Microsoft Windows PC computing hardware at Makino Mason and customer locations.
Interface and configure Makino Horizontal Machining Center, Fanuc CNC based, product lines to the Cell Controller software via Microsoft Windows PC's.
Understanding of Makino's products and services including experience in Fanuc CNC controls Provide technical support to resolve cell controller system problems both on site and by phone for all existing installations.
Ability to understand complex automated production systems and make suggestions for changes and improvements as may be needed through field activities, installation experiences and observations.
Considerable experience with Microsoft Windows O/S platforms (i.
e.
Windows 10, Windows 11 & Windows Server platforms) including configuration, installation, recovery & support Experience in TCP/IP networking and Ethernet cable architecture Experience with IT related responsibilities and network Domain architectures Perform detailed testing and debug of new and revised cell controller system software versions prior to field release as well as after release.
Perform cell controller system software training both in the office and at the customer location as required.
Provide professional and technical assistance to sales engineers, regional managers, and distributors in answering customer questions and providing cell controller system software demonstrations as necessary.
Develop, document, and maintain cell controller system configurations and installation documents following the Makino MAP procedures.
Capable of executing tasks and projects with limited supervision Exceptional phone support and software/hardware troubleshooting skills Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Project and PowerPoint Ability to work with a variety of functions within the business, including sales, service, and engineering Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), Database structure, installation & support (Microsoft SQL 2005 Express, 2014 Express & 2017 Express) Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to travel up to 70% after the initial training period EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A 2-year associate's degree in an engineering or computing discipline or equivalent work experience is recommended.
Experience in a Horizontal CNC Machining Center environment and automated systems would be a plus.
