Job Description Summary The Advanced Product Development section is responsible for the design, integration, testing, and support of advanced technologies for new and derivative engine conceptsTechnology focus areas include military inlet & exhaust systems, integrated propulsion power & thermal management systems, advanced material systems, and other breakthrough component and system technologies to support the future of military flightIn this role, the Staff Engineer will be part of an Integrated Product Team focused on New Product Introduction in Military Engineering as a Cost Account Manager (CAM)This role will share in the responsibility for guiding the technical design and execution of a new military product design with an emphasis on program management within the Earned Value Management (EVM) frameworkThis role will interact daily with a multidisciplinary team of engineers including Mechanical, Aerodynamics, Heat Transfer, Material Sciences, and Engine SystemsThe Staff Engineer CAM will be focused on aligning technical and programmatic oversight to enable the team to push the boundaries of what is possible with the latest technologies and materials developed at GE Aerospace while protecting cost & scheduleThis role requires significant collaboration both within the Product Team and across the product line, with high levels of operational judgment & ownership for key program and Customer metricsDue to security requirements this position requires a full-time in the office scheduleTeams in the Advanced Programs space are fueled by a passion for aviation and a sense of purpose to support our military customersWe solve hard problems by pulling concepts from the science & technology realm into the world of applied engineeringWhether it's composites design, aeromechanics, additive manufacturing, manufacturing support or test - this role is a guaranteed opportunity to grow your skillsetThe harder the problem the harder we push, building on a legacy of engineering excellence to invent the future of flightJob Description Roles and Responsibilitieso Working with the Systems teams and Customers to keep consistency between the Integrated Product Team and the other design teams.
Collaboration with Systems team:
o Ensuring the team has the inputs needed to complete analyses.
o Coordinating information flow between the Systems and design teams.
o Tracking design efforts:
hand-ins and milestones:
o Driving design milestones for DDR.
o Driving component and system test assessments.
Acting as EVM CAM for the Integrated Product Team:
collecting status, tracking spend, reporting to Systems and Customers.
Developing ROMs and Proposal input as necessary for program planning/management.
Developing specialized knowledge in the disciplines of hot structures design and program managementServes as best practice/quality resourceHas awareness of latest technical developments in own areaContributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or a similar discipline focused on mechanical or aerothermal design) from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering positionDesired Characteristicso Active US Government Security Clearance Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics OR in Business Administration from an accredited university or college 7
