Job Description:
We are looking for a candidate with a degree and furnace supervisory experience.
The Furnace Supervisor is responsible for managing the production operations activities associated with the Slab Yard, Slab Grinder, Slab Reheating Furnace and Roughing Mill to assure the highest level of productivity, quality, within internal scheduling requirements.
1. Manages the Slab Yard, Slab Grinder, Slab Reheating Furnace and Roughing Mill. Trains, leads, motivates subordinates to optimize man / machine interface to continuously improve the quality and productivity of the operating units, and meet customer demands of quality and timely delivery. Sets productivity goals and standards to align work force to meet requirements. Schedules employees (all shifts) to meet operating and customer requirements.
2. Coordinates and collaborates with all the Process, Maintenance and Technical Engineers in the various activities necessary to schedule, process and transfer in-process material at proper efficiency and minimum cost. Monitors flow of material through SY, SG and RF to eliminate delays on equipment waiting on slabs to be rolled.
3. Coordinates and collaborates with Maintenance on planned outages, preventative maintenance, special projects, etc. for the SY, SG, RF, and RM to prevent delays during operating hours, eliminate bottlenecks and improve quality of product as it relates to maintenance of equipment.
4. Interact with Technical Department to ensure proper standards and procedures are followed on all units in order to obtain the proper metallurgical properties and quality of steel in process.
5. Manages unit costs for the SY, SG, RF and RM to effectively meet or exceed financial targets. Participates in goal setting; constantly seeks out areas for continuous improvement - implement changes or makes recommendations to management.
6. Requires employees conformance to established safety and housekeeping rules and procedures in order to maintain a safe and clean working environment, prevent accidents, and optimize productivity, quality and employee morale. Instructs employees in work requirements, safety practices, housekeeping rules, etc. Conducts safety meetings, accident / incident investigations, inspections, maintain records, etc. Correct unsafe conditions, procedures, or makes recommendations to management to eliminate future safety problems.
7. Supervises unit employees. Communicates company rules and practices, require subordinates conformance and application to establish company rules and practice with regard to attendance, performance, training, safety and the like. Investigates, settles and/or refers employees complaints to Hot Mill Manager as required.
8. Maintains appropriate inventory levels for the SG, RF and RM to ensure uninterrupted operations. Participates in consumables (vendor's selection, bidding, ordering parameters).
Bottom Line Requirements:
1. Bachelor's Degree.

years of furnace experience in a steel manufacturing operation or similar including some supervisory experience.
3. Slab Yard, Slab Grinder, Slab Reheating Furnace and Roughing Mill experience.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
